📝 Ingredients & Quantities

Base Ingredients

  • Organic A2 Whole Milk – 1½ cups

  • Green Cardamom Pods – 2 pods, lightly crushed

    • Substitute: ¼ teaspoon cardamom powder

  • Saffron Threads – 4–6 strands, soaked in 1 tablespoon warm milk for 5 minutes

    • Substitute: None—saffron’s sattvic, mood-lifting prabhāva is unique.

  • Raw Sugar or Jaggery – 1–2 teaspoons (optional)

    • Substitute: Maple syrup or raw honey.

    • Note: Do not add jaggery or honey while boiling milk. Add only after heat is off.

Optional Enhancers

  • Ghee – ½ teaspoon for deeper grounding, especially for Vata

  • Nutmeg – 1 small pinch for sleep support

  • A few rose petals – cooling and heart-opening

  • Turmeric – 1 small pinch for anti-inflammatory benefit

🔥 Method of Preparation

  1. Warm the milk gently in a small pot over low–medium heat.
Ayurveda teaches that milk should never be rapidly boiled; gentle heat preserves its Ojas-building qualities.

  2. Add the crushed cardamom pods and allow them to infuse for 3–4 minutes.
This releases their aromatic oils that pacify the mind and support digestion.

  3. Add the saffron threads along with the milk they were soaked in, letting them slowly dissolve into the mixture.

  4. Keep the flame low and simmer for 5–7 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Milk should thicken slightly and turn a golden blush.

  5. Turn off the heat.
If using jaggery or raw honey, add it now while the milk is warm—not hot.

  6. Add optional enhancers based on your dosha:

    • Ghee for grounding

    • Nutmeg for sleep

    • Rose petals for emotional cooling

    • Turmeric for inflammation reduction

  7. Pour into a cup and sip slowly, allowing the warmth and aroma to relax your senses.
