Ashwagandha Root–Nutmeg Sleep-Inducing Warm Tonic
A deeply calming, grounding, and Ojas-building tonic that uses raw ashwagandha root in the traditional Ayurvedic way: first extracted as a mild decoction (ashwagandha-kwatha) and then infused with milk (ksheerapaka vidhi). This method enhances potency, supports the nervous system more profoundly, and promotes deep, restorative sleep.

🔥 Method of Preparation
(Classical Ayurvedic Double-Stage Method)
Stage 1: Prepare the Ashwagandha Root Decoction (Kwatha)
In a small pot, add:
Raw ashwagandha root (1 tsp)
½ cup water
Bring to a gentle boil, then reduce to a simmer for 6–8 minutes.
This extracts the herb’s active components without over-boiling.The water should reduce slightly and smell earthy and fragrant.
Stage 2: Prepare the Milk Infusion (Ksheerapaka Method)
Add 1 to 1½ cups of milk directly into the decoction.
(This is the classical milk-processing technique used for nervine herbs.)Add fresh ginger, and simmer on very low heat for 5 minutes.
Ginger enhances circulation, improves digestive compatibility, and warms Vata.Add nutmeg and the tiny pinch of black pepper.
Black pepper improves ashwagandha absorption (piperine effect) and enhances delivery to deeper tissues.Add ghee and stir gently.
Turn off heat.
Add jaggery or sweetener only now, while warm—not hot.Add optional enhancers (cardamom, rose, saffron, turmeric).
Strain out the ashwagandha root before drinking.
Drink slowly, ideally 1 hour before bedtime.
